"Almighty and most merciful God, we remember before You all poor and neglected persons whom it would be easy for us to forget." --Book of Common Prayer
Milton Community Food Pantry
St. John the Baptist collects food for this food pantry, which distributes food, clothing and books from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Mondays at Goshen Hall, 114 Federal Street, Milton. Drop-off of donations at Goshen Hall is also welcomed on Sundays from noon to 2:00 p.m. Anyone interested in helping with this very worthwhile community effort should contact parishioner Paula Anuszewski.
Some Milton-area kids are reliant upon school lunches, but do not get them during the summer. To help fill hungry stomachs, the parish distributes free brown-bag lunches on Thursdays in the summer at the lot across Wharton Street from our parking lot.

Meals on Wheels
We contribute to this service which brings meals and social support to vulnerable, high-risk seniors and disabled persons in eastern Sussex County.
Clothes for Children
We collect clothes for Milton children in need, under the guidance of parishioner Celeste Babiarz. Those interested in helping are asked to contact her for specific clothing items most needed.
The Way Home
We contribute to this ministry based in Georgetown, Delaware, which assists those who have been released from incarceration and need help assimilating back into the larger community.
We contribute to this, our diocesan camp and conference center, located here in Sussex County.
Outreach Yard Sale
St. John the Baptist participates in Milton's Spring Town-wide Yard Sale. In addition to yard sale items, we sell refreshments, including hot dogs, sausages and beverages, as well as bake-sale items. The parish's Outreach Committee then decides what area non-profits and ministries will be supported with the income, and unsold items are given to New Life Thrift Shop. The Spring Town-Wide Yard Sale is held the first Saturday in May.

Rector's Discretionary Fund
The vestry of St. John the Baptist has created and maintains a fund for the rector to use for those in urgent need.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Parishioners knit or crochet prayer shawls, which are then blessed by the rector and given to those who are ill or facing other difficulty. The recipients thus have a tangible and comforting symbol of the love of God and God's people. Please contact parishioner Corey Marshall-Steele if you are interested in creating prayer shawls.
A reception for welcoming visitors and general fellowship occurs in the parish hall following Sunday Mass. Teams of several parishioners each are scheduled on a rotating basis to ensure refreshments are in place for hungry worshipers. To assist in this welcoming ministry, contact Margot Lawrik.
Stockings for Soldiers
St. John the Baptist parishioners sew Christmas stockings and collect specified items to stuff those stockings for members of the military. Thank you letters from the recipients indicate the stockings are greatly appreciated. (Important! For guidance in creating stockings and/or providing the permitted items to fill them, go to www.stockingsforsoldiers.org. Those who can knit are further invited to knit 100% woolen--not acrylic or synthetic--caps to be worn under helmets. Specified colors and other requirements for the caps are also at www.stockingsforsoldiers.org.) Vestry member Sharon Lamando coordinates the project in our parish.
Each year we have made more stockings than the previous year.
Adopt-a-Family at Christmas
Selected families receive individualized gifts and a Christmas dinner from the parish of St. John the Baptist.
Angel Tree Project
Gifts of clothing, books and toys are collected by parishioners to brighten the Christmas of disadvantaged children.
